Question Number 59092 by necx1 last updated on 04/May/19

what % increase will it be to transform an image on a scale of 1:75 to 1:300?

$${what}\:\%\:{increase}\:{will}\:{it}\:{be}\:{to}\:{transform} \\ $$$${an}\:{image}\:{on}\:{a}\:{scale}\:{of}\:\mathrm{1}:\mathrm{75}\:{to}\:\mathrm{1}:\mathrm{300}? \\ $$

the length of the scales: ((75)/(300))=(1/4) ⇒ −75% but usually the area is calculated ((75^2 )/(300^2 ))=(1/(16)) ⇒ −93.75%

$$\mathrm{the}\:\mathrm{length}\:\mathrm{of}\:\mathrm{the}\:\mathrm{scales}: \\ $$$$\frac{\mathrm{75}}{\mathrm{300}}=\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{4}}\:\Rightarrow\:−\mathrm{75\%} \\ $$$$\mathrm{but}\:\mathrm{usually}\:\mathrm{the}\:\mathrm{area}\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{calculated} \\ $$$$\frac{\mathrm{75}^{\mathrm{2}} }{\mathrm{300}^{\mathrm{2}} }=\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{16}}\:\Rightarrow\:−\mathrm{93}.\mathrm{75\%} \\ $$
