∵8 painters take 5 hours. ∴ 1 painter takes 40 hours. ∴ 6 painter takes ((40)/6) hours (at same rate). ∴ at (2/3) rate of the 8 painters they would take ((40)/6)×(3/2)=10 hrs.

$$\because\mathrm{8}\:{painters}\:{take}\:\mathrm{5}\:{hours}. \\ $$$$\therefore\:\mathrm{1}\:{painter}\:{takes}\:\mathrm{40}\:{hours}. \\ $$$$\therefore\:\mathrm{6}\:{painter}\:{takes}\:\frac{\mathrm{40}}{\mathrm{6}}\:{hours}\:\left({at}\:{same}\:{rate}\right). \\ $$$$\therefore\:{at}\:\frac{\mathrm{2}}{\mathrm{3}}\:{rate}\:{of}\:{the}\:\mathrm{8}\:{painters} \\ $$$$\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:{they}\:{would}\:{take}\:\frac{\mathrm{40}}{\mathrm{6}}×\frac{\mathrm{3}}{\mathrm{2}}=\mathrm{10}\:{hrs}. \\ $$
