why slope is represented by m

$${why}\:{slope}\:{is}\:{represented}\:{by}\:{m} \\ $$

it is a symbol only...you can put any alphabet out of 26...but you have to mention that the alphabet represent slope... slope=gradient=tanθ=((y_2 −y_1 )/(x_2 −x_1 ))=(dy/dx)=m(say)

$${it}\:{is}\:{a}\:{symbol}\:{only}...{you}\:{can}\:{put}\:{any}\:{alphabet}\: \\ $$$${out}\:{of}\:\mathrm{26}...{but}\:{you}\:{have}\:{to}\:{mention}\:{that}\:{the} \\ $$$${alphabet}\:{represent}\:{slope}... \\ $$$${slope}={gradient}={tan}\theta=\frac{{y}_{\mathrm{2}} −{y}_{\mathrm{1}} }{{x}_{\mathrm{2}} −{x}_{\mathrm{1}} }=\frac{{dy}}{{dx}}={m}\left({say}\right) \\ $$
