guess what an other man or woman thinks, this has nothing to do with mathematics and with intellegence, at most just a stupid game. can you say what′s the next number? 1,2,3,4,?

Of course yes you are correct  dear professor...  For example:  1,2,3,4,5,8,?,?  ⇒1,2_(2^1 ) ,3,4_(2^2 ) ,5,8_(2^3 ) ,7,16_(2^4 )   ⇒ a_n = { ((n  if  n  is odd)),((2^(n/2)   if  n  is even)) :}   ⇒   a_n  = ?

$$\mathrm{Of}\:\mathrm{course}\:\mathrm{yes}\:\mathrm{you}\:\mathrm{are}\:\mathrm{correct}\:\:\mathrm{dear}\:\mathrm{professor}... \\ $$$$\mathrm{For}\:\mathrm{example}: \\ $$$$\mathrm{1},\mathrm{2},\mathrm{3},\mathrm{4},\mathrm{5},\mathrm{8},?,? \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\mathrm{1},\underset{\mathrm{2}^{\mathrm{1}} } {\mathrm{2}},\mathrm{3},\underset{\mathrm{2}^{\mathrm{2}} } {\mathrm{4}},\mathrm{5},\underset{\mathrm{2}^{\mathrm{3}} } {\mathrm{8}},\underline{\mathrm{7},\underset{\mathrm{2}^{\mathrm{4}} } {\mathrm{16}}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:\mathrm{a}_{\boldsymbol{\mathrm{n}}} =\begin{cases}{\mathrm{n}\:\:\mathrm{if}\:\:\mathrm{n}\:\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{odd}}\\{\mathrm{2}^{\frac{\boldsymbol{\mathrm{n}}}{\mathrm{2}}} \:\:\mathrm{if}\:\:\mathrm{n}\:\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{even}}\end{cases}\:\:\:\Rightarrow\:\:\:\mathrm{a}_{\boldsymbol{\mathrm{n}}} \:=\:? \\ $$

wrong! because i meant 1,2,3,4,10,11,12,13,14,20,21,... therefore such questions are purely non−sense.

$${wrong}!\:{because}\:{i}\:{meant} \\ $$$$\mathrm{1},\mathrm{2},\mathrm{3},\mathrm{4},\mathrm{10},\mathrm{11},\mathrm{12},\mathrm{13},\mathrm{14},\mathrm{20},\mathrm{21},... \\ $$$${therefore}\:{such}\:{questions}\:{are}\:{purely} \\ $$$${non}−{sense}. \\ $$
